Not Much of a Game

Well that was one of the more boring National Championship games you will see. Michigan State never stood a chance as North Carolina took home the title with the 89-72 victory. That gives UNC its 5th national title in basketball, that is the third most by any school behind UCLA and Kentucky. UNC had this game put away at halftime when they were up by 21 points. That is the largest half time lead ever in the championship game. Tyler Hansbrough, Ty Lawson and Wayne Ellington proved to be far more than Michigan State could handle. I wish the game could have been a little closer but I am happy that Hansbrough was able to go out a champion, he is going to go down as one of the greatest college players to ever play the game. It will be interesting to see how he fares in the NBA... alot of people do not think he will be very good as a pro. What do you guys think?

NCAA Championship Gane

Well I'm getting ready to ready to watch the championship game of march madness. Hopefully it is a good game and we don't have to watch a blow out. North Carolina seems to be the favorite in the eyes of many experts. However I'm sure the building will be packed with Michigan State fans seeing that the game is being played in Detroit essentially making it feel like a home game for them. I hope that UNC can pull it out and Tyler Hansbrough can end his senior year with the national championship. Overall it hasn't been that exciting of a tournament to me with a lack real major upsets. It is always fun to watch the cinderella team make a long run in the tournament. Well it's almost game time I'll be back after midnight to blog about the game!

Twitter

I'm sure most of you have heard about this new craze known as twitter that is becoming more and more popular. Twitter is a social networking and blog service that allows its users to send and read other users updates known as tweets. Recently this new service has been taken to limits that have never been seen before. Professional athletes have actually updated there page during halftime of their games. To me that is nuts, keep your head in the game! Social networking sites like this and facebook are almost taking over people's lives. I don't know about you guys but I am on facebook way too much and it definitely takes away from my ability to get my school work done. Every time go on the internet I find myself on facebook without even intending to. What do you guys think should athletes being twittering in the middle of their games?

Opening Day

Spring has almost truly arrived and that means that opening day is fast approaching. The Red Sox open their season on Monday afternoon against those Tampa Bay Rays. I'm really looking forward to this season and hoping that the Sox can bring home another world series. I Think they have a pretty solid chance of doing it even with the enormous amount of cash the Yanks dished out to free agents in the off season. The strenght of the team definitely seems like it is going to be the pitching staff they have a ton of depth both in the rotation and in the bullpen. For starters they bring back Josh Beckett, John Lester, Dice-K, Tim Wakefield, John Smoltz, Brad Penny, Clay Bucholz they just have a wealth of solid guys to fill the 5 man rotation. In the bullpen they of course have one of the best closers in the game Jonathon Papelbon along with Manny Delcarmen, Hideki Okajima, Justin Masterson, Ramon Ramirez and many more guys that are more than capable of pitchin in the Big Leagues. The Line up 1-9 is as balanced as any in the league. With Big Papi, Pedroia, Youk, Bay, Lowell these guys definitely are capable of making damage. I am really looking forward to seeing just what this team can do. What do you guys think the Sox chances are this season?

Hudson River Plane Crash

I think it was amazing that a plane could crash in such a large body of water and noone coul die. That pilot is truly a hero. I was recently on addictinggames.com come and noticed that you could play a game that was called "Hudson Hero" it gave you a chance to try and save all those were aboard. You guys should all check it out and see if you can be a "Hudson Hero"

Get rid of Fighting?

I don't know how many of you are hockey fans, but those have you are may know they have been thinking about getting rid of fighting in the NHL. I am a huge fan of the sport and think that would be a horrible move. Fighting plays a huge role in the game and can swing the momentum from one team to another. Those who want to get rid of it do not realize just how much it would change the game and i truly d0 not agree with them.

'Alex Rodriguez Park'...Why?

This is a link to an interesting story I found while look at the ESPN website. It is sort of a follow up to my first post. The University of Miami officially named their baseball stadium Alex Rodriguez Park today. The Miami head coach Jim Morris says, "It's not fair to Alex to pinpoint one guy. I'm afraid I wouldn't want to see the list, but at the same time, I don't think it's fair to pinpoint one guy." This is similar to what I had said before about the fact the other 103 names have not been revealed and all the weight of this issue has been put on A-Rod. However I am a believer that revealing those names would be the best thing that baseball could do right now. I also don't know if I would of gone through with naming the field after A-Rod considering all that has taken place over the last week. What do you guys think, Did Miami do the right thing?

Olympic Hero?

Well this photo is probably familiar to nearly all of you. For those of you who don't know Olympic Star Michael Phelps was caught on camera taking a hit of this marijuana pipe. He got suspended from US Swimming for 3 months and his Kellogg's sponsorship has been ended. Did he really deserve this type of punishment? I mean it's only a little weed and he is after all young. Let the kid live his life he is obviously doing something right...He has won 14 Olympic Gold Medals!

What about the other 103?

Now do not take me writing this post as me supporting A-Rod because I do not. What he did was wrong and there is now way to get around it or take it back. His image forever will be tarnished and his statistics forever in question in the eyes of many. What I want to know is, who are the other 103 major league baseball players who were listed on a 2003 list as testing positive for steroids. I understand that A-Rod is one of the most popular players in the league and he has an image to live up. He is as much as the face of baseball than any one player and the league does not need another Barry Bonds situation to deal with. But can we truly believe that players that we look up to other than A-Rod are not on the juice? I myself find this extremely hard to do and I would really like to know who the other players on that list are. At this point I would not at all be surprised to find 5 or 6 more of the league's most popular faces on that list. The media is all over A-Rod right now, every sports website I go to it is front page news, I really wish some media would dig deeper into the list and uncover what has been hidden for this long. It amazes me how much attention can be spent on one person when there are 103 others who we have no idea who they are. For all we know, David Ortiz, Jason Varitek, and Curt Schilling all could be one of those 103 other players on the list. I think it would be in the League's best interest for those 103 other players names be brought public so the fans know who is a cheater and who is not. It is up to the league to not cheat the fans and once again allow them to watch a sport that is as natural as they come. Let's restore the beauty of America's Pastime
